Point and shoot tips from the old masters →
With a point-and-shoot, you have the limitations of poor light sensitivity, no depth-of-field control, slow frame rates, limited flash control, etc. Someone with expensive equipment could be standing next to you in and indoor event getting great shots while yours are a blurry, muddy mess. You can only learn so much from people who frequently work in ways that are impossible for you. What if...

Jeffrey Tambor on the Arrested Development movie
On the public radio show The Sound of Young America Jeffrey Tambor commented on the whole Arrested Development/Michael Cera movie situation. He joked: I will go to Michael Cera’s house and I will pull him out by his hair. And then proceeded to talk more seriously about the project: The real truth is that we are going to—it looks very, very probable. The script is not finished...

The Making of Wrestle Jam →
Wrestle Jam is the fictional NES game Mickey Rourke’s character plays with a neighborhood kid in The Wrestler. The game is reminiscent of Pro Wrestling and Tag Team Wrestling. (Wrestle Jam) was created specifically for the film by motion graphics artist Kristyn Hume and programmer Randall Furino. The brother and sister team created the game from scratch, taking influence from 8-bit...

In the past twenty-four hours I’ve come across two of the all-time worst vanity plates: MID LIF - This would be bad enough if it were on a Ferrari or some mid-sixties muscle car but this driver chose to resolve said crisis by purchasing a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I think FAIL would be more appropriate. GENIUS - I wish I had my camera because the driver was an older, blue blazer/bow-tie...

Tropicana to return to old packaging →
In a marketing move unseen since the San Fransisco 49ers helmet disaster of 1991, Tropicana has decided to ditch their new packaging for the traditional, straw-in-the orange logo and packaging.

Beatles Game Will Feature Different Periods of the... →
If you haven’t heard Harmonix, makers of Rock Band, are developing a Beatles only game. EW: Can you tell me about this special Beatles edition of the Rock Band game that’s coming out this fall? Paul: It will feature different periods of the band - you get early days, Liverpool, then psychedelic, and on from there. It’s very cool. And I like the idea that the game introduces...

I had no idea the You Also Might Like… function on your following page existed until Rog told me last night. Too bad I don’t recognize anyone on mine. I think they’re all friends of old friends. Everyone (myself included) needs an about section on their sidebar or a link to one! EDIT: The list refreshes everytime you check!

Left 4k Dead →
An addicting, 4k, Java interpretation of the equally awesome survival zombie game Left 4 Dead by Markus Persson. The perspective reminds me of the driving parts of all the old Police Quest games.

TinEye, the reverse image search →
TinEye is a reverse image search engine. You can submit an image to TinEye to find out where it came from, how it is being used, if modified versions of the image exist, or to find higher resolution versions. TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks.

Amazing gallery of original Chris Ware drawings. Also, the Acme Novelty Archive, which is a self-described “unofficial directory of the works of Mr. F.C. Ware.”

My new favorite website is Design Observer. Editor Michael Bierut recently made a post about the 85 notebooks he’s filled over the course of the last 26 years. Highly reccomended. Also, they just linked to this entry on a mock series of book covers based on movies over at a blog called Spacesick.

Madden '09's Super Bowl prediction was only two... →
Earlier in the week EA simulated the game resulting in a Pittsburgh 28-24 victory, narrowly missing the actual 27-23 score. Sort of reminds me of how I Am Legend predicted last year’s Super Bowl participants but screwed up the results. (Looking at you David Tyree.) Looking back though, maybe it was better that the Giants won as we have seemed to have avoided the ensuing vampire-zombie...
